BBC Toffsnight fiasco

Newsnight - Cameron

They’ll be cheering over the polenta at the Gassed Badger this evening after David Cameron is awarded a points victory for his interview performance on Newsnight last night.

Not difficult when the interviewer is conceivably an even dimmer toff than Cameron. Newsnight’s Economics Editor, Stephanie Flanders (St Paul’s Girls’ School, Balliol College, Oxford and Harvard) handed victory to Cameron on a plate after she tried to pass herself off as an “ordinary” single mum.

Hardly the case for one of the BBC’s highest earners who falls within the top 10% band of UK earners. Cameron therefore easily brushed aside her sneering question “Have you ever met anybody who would get married for £20 per week?”.

Stephanie, £20 a week is a grand a year. In the real world that’s a lot of money.

Even Cameron managed to score from this open goal. Well done the BBC.
